These are amusing books that show scenes from the typical everyday life with colorized caricatures in the style of that time; sometimes, even comics that rewrite ancient history. Romans are depicted as they were Victorian characters with togas and top hats; 136 caricatures illustrate life in Milan from 1860 to 1910. Satire, which was very common in the 1800s, portrays and mocks characters, behaviors and contemporary customs.
