Charles Albert commanded the construction of his baths in a wing of Racconigi Castle. These private thermal baths are under restoration right now and they will soon be part of a new itinerary inside the Residence.
The thermal treatments were very famous in the 1800s in Piedmont: Vinadio, Valdieri, Acqui Terme were exclusive locations for their water properties. This is a journey in the region through the eyes of doctors and academics that provide detailed descriptions of the water composition, but also funny poems that draw inspiration from the thermal fashion trend.
A peculiarity of this itinerary is the volume about silk that brings the visitor from the sweet hills of Piedmont to Sicily and allows him to find out how this cultivation, begun under Victor Amadeus of Savoy, became in a short time an excellency in the economy of Piedmont, also because of the quality of waters employed in the manufacturing.
