In the castle, the little princes spent most of their childhood. Racconigi was not only Charles Albert’s favorite residence, but also Victor Emmanuel II and his brother Ferdinand’s, who called themselves Racconigissimi, Antimoncalierissimi (fond of Racconigi, against Moncalieri). Life in the court passed between the rigid scholastic and religious education and the walks in the wonderful park.
In the library there are many books containing tales for children, a very successful genre in the 1800s. Charles Albert himself is a writer who amuses himself by writing in French about his travels and his “moral tales”, with examples of virtue and warnings for the little children.
